Ive always loved painting and drawing, It is my down time, my escape
I mainly paint in oils and acrylics on canvas and I prefer painting to drawing. I love the way i can manipulate the paint to transcribe my feelings and emotions on to the canvas. It is much easier to do that subconsciously, or more so, than when you are drawing.
Which is generally a slower, more thought out process. I'm trying to think less, and feel more, in life and therefore my painting, to allow inner feelings and real creativity to do the painting. In the last year i feel my art has taken a step back, because of what i have previously discussed, I have produced very little work, and if so, very little i am pleased with.
My inspiration comes from places I see when I go running, which is also another reason for not painting much recently. I work from photos as well as what's in my head. I try to paint how i feel at the time, so that the painting is the most 'genuine' of me. Also so that way it works as purpose for myself to release feelings and emotions. It is not important when viewing the piece of work for you to know what it is about, it is what it means to you that is important.
